Leadership

The Commission consists of 5 members, each are appointed by the following offices ; The Governor of Oklahoma, The Speaker of the House of Representatives of Oklahoma, Pro-Tempore of the Oklahoma Senate, The Attorney General of Oklahoma and the Chief Justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court. The Commission five seats are split among the U.S. congressional districts. Each U.S. Congressional District may only be represented by one Commissioner. 


Role and Responsibilities 

The Commission's primary duty is to create and enforce rules regarding ethical conduct of public officials. Newly drafted rules are submitted to both chambers of the Oklahoma Legislature. If the drafted rules pass the joint-resolution the rules are submitted to the Governor their approval. If the rules fail to pass in the legislature or gets vetoed by the Governor, the process must be restarted. The Commission may repeal rules, this would be subject to the same Legislative and Gubernatorial process. 

The secondary role of the Ethics Commission is to serve as a repository of all  financial disclosures, campaign contributions and expenditure reports and lobbyist registration documents.
